Innovation from mechanical engineering - the new rabbitcoater 2.0

In trenchless pipe rehabilitation, flexibility, efficiency and user-friendliness are the key factors for successful construction sites. The RabbitCoater from Polypipe GmbH has risen to precisely these challenges. From the first version in 2021 to the present day, the system has been continuously developed - from a robust but heavy machine to a lightweight, flexible coating system that delivers full performance even in the tightest of spaces.

Proven system, new look: The rabbitcoater 2.0 also works with the innovative RabbitResin polyurethane resin. This is sprayed or brushed onto the inside of the pipe and hardens within 3-5 minutes. As a rule, three to five layers of the resin are required to seal a dilapidated area and keep it tight for the next 50 years. In-house wastewater pipes DN40 to DN200 of all common materials are coated. The new rabbitcoater 2.0 is also controlled using the tried-and-tested RabbitControl app, guaranteeing seamless and DIBt-compliant documentation.

The rabbitcoater 2.0 celebrated its product launch at this year's RO-KA-TECH in Kassel. And it was a resounding success because the compact machine impresses across the board. From the price to the first sprayed pipe - the new coater will soon be launched on the first construction sites.

The challenge: Flexibility in demanding locations

Practical experience quickly showed that the weight and size of the original RabbitCoater machine was not always ideal for difficult locations such as narrow basements, multi-storey buildings without lifts or winding rooms. To ensure maximum efficiency here, the design and the machine body had to be rethought without compromising on quality and efficiency.

Partnership for innovation: Polypipe and Innoquip

Around two years ago, Polypipe began an intensive development phase in close cooperation with its mechanical engineering partner Innoquip GmbH. The first RabbitCoater generation had already been successfully developed together and established on the market. The vision for the new machine was clear: weight reduction and a more compact design with the same technology and precision.

The centrepiece of the further development was the switch from integrated, fixed resin tanks to mobile resin and hardener buckets. This simple but effective concept led to a significant downsizing of the machine body. As a result, the total weight of around 40 kilograms has been more than halved - a major advantage for users who often have to transport their equipment in impassable or confined construction site areas. Resin and hardener no longer need to be decanted into the integrated resin tanks. Two reusable and mobile lids, which are placed on the buckets, pump the materials into the hoses and thus into the mixing unit before the RabbitResin is distributed on the inside of the pipe.

Technical highlights and improved maintenance

In addition to the weight saving, the inner workings of the machine have also been fundamentally redesigned. The complex and previously difficult to access components have been simplified and modularised so that maintenance can now be carried out quickly and easily. For the technicians, this not only means less downtime, but also increased efficiency when preparing the machine for use.

The revised design also scores points with its modern, appealing look, which reflects the technical progress and innovative strength of Polypipe GmbH - the bright Polypipe orange colour in particular scores points here.

In-house production for maximum control

Another major advantage of the RabbitCoater is that it is produced entirely in-house by Polypipe and Innoquip. This means that we retain full control over all production, maintenance and delivery processes. This not only minimises costs and service times, but also ensures that the machine is quickly ready for use again - a decisive factor for users who depend on reliable and immediately available technology in their everyday work.

Outlook: The future of internal pipe rehabilitation

With the further development of the RabbitCoater, technical progress and practical innovation go hand in hand. The combination of proven technology, improved handling and an efficient maintenance concept makes the machine an important building block for sustainable and cost-efficient pipe rehabilitation.

The industry can look forward to seeing how the new version of the RabbitCoater will simplify processes on construction sites and set new standards in terms of flexibility and ease of use.
